How Our Garden Skip Bin Service Works

We do things a little differently to other Brisbane garden skip bin services in Brisbane, Redlands/Bayside, and Logan. With 4 Waste Walk-In Skip Bins, our garden skip bins are billed based on how much garden waste you load into them, not the size skip bin that’s delivered to your premises. Regardless of whether you hire a 2m3, 4m3, 10m3 or any other garden skip bin, we will deliver either a 6m3 or an 8m3 skip bin to your premises.

Each garden skip bin has marked fill levels at each cubic metre. This allows you to fill your garden waste to the level of the size you hire. If you hire a 4m3, you can fill to the 4m3 fill mark.

The true benefit of our walk-in garden skip bin service comes into play when customers hire a garden skip bin smaller than they need. Other Brisbane garden skip bin companies would have you hire a second skip bin for the extra garden waste, which is billed at full price. This isn’t the case with our skip bin service.

With 4 Waste Walk-In Skip Bins, should you order a garden skip bin smaller than your needs, you can simply continue filling it till you dispose of all your garden waste. We will then only invoice you for the difference, which is substantially cheaper than the cost of having to hire a second garden skip bin at the full rate. Furthermore, you won’t lose your momentum as you wait around – sometimes days – for a second garden skip bin to be delivered.

Our garden skip bins are all about cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Suitable for disposing of green waste from your garden

Of all the types of waste we produce, green waste is one of the most significant. Green waste refers to organic waste, which is entirely recyclable. This is the same waste that you dispose of in the council’s green bins.

If you have excessive green waste to be disposed of, such as tree cuttings, leaves, branches, grass clippings, palm leaves or any other type of green waste, a Walk-In Garden Skip Bin will ensure you have sufficient means to disposal.

We accept up to 20 cubic meters of 100% green waste in our garden skip bins. So, even if you have a considerable amount of garden waste to be disposed of, you can count on our Walk-In Garden Skip Bins to efficiently and effectively remove all your green waste in one go. We DO NOT accept logs, stumps, palm Logs, whole trees, mulched trees, golden cane trunks, soil, or turf in our garden skip bins.

  • Environmentally Friendly Green Waste Removal Option

Cheap, practical, and eco-friendly, our Walk-In Garden Skip Bins dispose of 100% green waste, saving it from ending up in a landfill to produce harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

When garden waste is left to break down naturally, it undergoes anaerobic decomposition and produces methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas that is 26 times stronger than carbon dioxide and is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions.

When we leave our green waste piled up in our yard to break down by itself, place it in a standard wheelie bin for council collection, or dump it in the mix waste section of a tip, we hurting the environment.

Hiring a garden skip bin for your green waste ensures your green waste is disposed of properly. It is turned into compost to be reused, avoiding a landfill and methane production.

FAQs about Walk-In Garden Skip Bins

  • Where is green waste sent?

Have you ever wondered what happens to green waste once it is collected? Well, the process is pretty much the same as the council’s green waste collection.

Once we collect your green waste, we send it to the closest green waste recycling facility for processing. We always ensure to send green waste to recycling facilities rather than a landfill to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • How is green waste processed?

The waste that arrives at a green waste recycling facility isn’t ready for composting immediately. First, the waste is thoroughly spread out on a tipping floor. This is done to sort the waste to remove non-compostable or large materials.

The sorted compostable waste then goes through a series of 4 bio-filter machines. These machines contain a mix of organic materials, natural microorganisms, and wood chips and they filter out odours from compostable waste.

The filtered waste is then sent through apron feeders with the help of front-end loaders. These apron feeders carry the waste material into four giant composters or digesters. The digesters heat the waste at 60°C in the presence of natural bacteria to begin the composting process. Waste lies in these digesters for three days.

After three days, immature compost is collected from the digesters, and it is thoroughly screened using a trommel to remove any inorganic waste. The immature compost is also treated with magnets to remove metals.

Once this is done, immature compost is sent to an aeration building where it is spread out in humid conditions. The immature compost is regularly watered, turned and aerated to make the process efficient.

After 42 days, compost is collected from the aeration building, and it is screened and filtered. Traces of inorganic material are removed to produce high-quality compost. The compost is then sent to a soil conditioning and additive facility to create the final form of usable compost.
